Contemporary art of Tyumen

Contemporary art in Tyumen made itself known in 2017 when the city hosted the special exhibition of the IV Ural Industrial Biennale. In 2019, the cultural center “Shipping Office” was opened in the city. In 2020, Tyumen artists took part in the exhibition “NEMOSKVA NE ZA GORAMI” held at the St. Petersburg Manege.

Nowadays, street art, public art, trash art, digital art, performance, and other practices are developing in Tyumen. Artists and curators study local space and identity, resisting the centralization of power and resources in Moscow and the weakening of creative life in regions.
